The Elise Duncan Trophy Handicap 0-9
Elise Duncan was the West Vets captain in 1995/96. She was a member of Eastwood GC and in 1991 she presented the Elise Duncan Trophy to be competed for annually between the scratch team of the East and West Vets. It is fiercely competitive match with each team vying for the bragging rights. The format is scratch singles with a team of 9 players from each division. The team is selected in handicap order with the lowest players going out first. The venue alternates yearly between courses in the east and west.
It is generally coffee/tea, breakfast rolls before the start and a meal afterwards followed by short speeches and the presentation of the trophy to the victorious team.
This match is usually organised by the Captain.
This trophy replaced the Lady McInnes Shaw Salver and perhaps fittingly the west won the trophy in its inception year.

The ASP Trophy Handicap 12 +
The ASP Trophy was kindly donated by Asp Robertson of Gullane Ladies in 2003. She had noted the lack of something to play for – a focus in this popular annual foursomes between East and West, which had been running for more than 30 years. The ASP trophy stands for Amicitia Semper Palma which roughly translates as “Friendship always wins the prize”.
The format was foursomes but was changed to Greensomes in 2021. The team consists of 10 players from each division making up 5 matches. The venue alternates yearly between courses in the east and west.
It is generally coffee/tea breakfast rolls before the start and a meal afterwards followed by short speeches and the presentation of the trophy to the victories team.
This match is usually organised by the Vice-Captain.

The Mid-West Trophy Handicap 9 +
This beautiful trophy was kindly donated by Sheila Shaw of Caldwell GC. Sheila was a past treasurer of the West Vets.
The format is scratch singles with a team of 7 from each division. The team is selected in handicap order with the lowest players going out first. The venue alternates yearly between courses in the Midlands and the West.
It is generally coffee/tea, breakfast rolls before the start and a meal afterwards followed by short speeches and the presentation of the trophy to the victorious team.
This match is usually organised by the Captain.

The West Vets Scratch Championship
This trophy was donated by Lady Mcinnes Shaw in 1954. Lady McInnes Shaw was part of the family who founded Firhill Iron Works in 1846. It was one of the most important firms in the iron trade in the late 1880’s.
The format is 16 qualify at the summer meeting and then proceed to match play (usually at Renfrew GC) towards the end of May. The winner will then represent the west at the annual Scottish Vets Championship at Blairgowrie GC towards the end of September.

The Heather Anderson Trophy
This trophy was donated by Heather Anderson of Caldwell GC and Troon Ladies in 2004. Heather was a stalwart of the West Vets and of Renfrew County. She was Scottish Champion In 1969 and represented Scotland in home international matches on 6 occasions. She also represented GB & I in the Vagliano trophy against Europe.
The trophy is awarded for the best Scratch score at the championship qualifying round.

The Stewart Trophy
This trophy was presented by Marion Stewart of Kilmacolm GC in 2015. Marion is a past captain of the West Vets.
The format is 8 qualify at the summer meeting and then proceed to handicap match play in conjunction with the main championship.

The May Craddock Trophy
This trophy was presented by Heather Anderson of Caldwell GC and Troon Ladies sometime around the mid 1960’s. At this time Heather was a Scottish Internationalist and played many matches in Ireland and became good friends with the Craddock Family. The Craddock Family were very well known in golfing circles at this time. Tom Craddock was a golf designer and is associated with many courses in Ireland including Killen Castle and Druid’s Glen. He also played 67 times for Ireland. Heather became friends with his sister May Craddock. Unfortunately this trophy has not lasted the test of time and was retired in 2022. The name May Craddock is now incorporated in our new Autumn Salver.

Spring, Summer and Autumn Salvers
The above salvers were introduced by the committee in 2022. It was decided that we should have a trophy for the best nett score at each of the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings.

Super Vet Quaich
These quaichs were presented by Past Captain Pat Walker in 2008. They are awarded to the best nett score for 70+ vets. Hence the name supervet.
